On Wednesday, Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) issued a statement following the passage of legislation that will ban Texas clinics from performing abortions once the heartbeat has been detected:

I commend Governor Abbott and the Texas Legislature for making the heartbeat bill the law of the land in Texas. Life is a precious and sacred gift from God almighty and the most fundamental of all the natural rights government exists to secure. This is a welcome step towards a future where every life in Texas and the rest of the Union is cherished and protected from conception to natural death.
